Pros

I really have nothing good to say at all except that the pay checks go through.

Cons

Ministry health merged with Ascension in 2014 and it just keeps getting worse. Pay has been cut, vacation hours have been cut, and health insurance has doubled. They keep cutting jobs while centralizing work. The changes that we made in our hospital were solely based on Ascension. Instead of saying what works best, they decided to go from top down and said this is the way things will be done. I guess they have to save money to pay Tersigni his 8 million year salary. Horrible company to work for.

Pros

Absolutely loved taking care of my patients. I love being a nurse, and most of the doctors are pretty friendly and easy to work with.

Cons

1. They are constantly cutting corners, reducing floor staff, and reducing resources for patients--this is all while the CEO of the company makes more than any other non-profit hospital CEO company in the whole country. 2. They don't even give a yearly raise that matches cost of inflation-- so technically get paid less and less every year. 3. Focus is really on the money versus the patients--which I have a huge problem with due to the fact that the company boasts about how charitable they are, when very little money is actually put towards charity. 4. Extremely poor management. They are so large, there is a huge disconnect from upper management. They cut jobs that directly deal with patient care while no cuts from middle or upper management are made. Then they wonder why they have such poor reviews from patients. 5. Some of the absolute WORST health insurance. You'd be better off with privately insuring yourself than going with what the company offers--its actually cheaper. 6. They freak out about any union talk--and they actually ended up firing a bunch of nurses who were trying to unionize a few years back. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE PATIENT CARE.
