Terrible, unethical

Pros

Good talented people, phenomenal pioneering work in Social Entrepreneurship with a world class selection process and criteria.

Cons

Unethical full stop. Bullying, lying, harassment and lies. You need to suck up to the CEO to move ahead at this company and there are some staff members who do just that at the detriment of everyone else around them. HR is known to cover up unethical behaviour of those who the CEO favours. In Asia it’s another story completely. The youth team, especially the leader there makes up rampant lies about the work they are doing and impact they’re creating and feeding this to the CEO, completely unacceptable use of resources and ethics. Behaviour of the staff including the gentleman who leads youth years as well as previous leaders of the South East Asia office falls into borderline incompetency. I have heard of Ashoka covering up issues related to ethical behaviour time and time again. Ashoka just shows that you don’t need any form of moral, ethics or real skills to get ahead but how ‘strategic’ you are and how far you’re willing to go to get yourself ahead while pushing others behind.

Don't work here

Pros

The people you work with are (for the most part) amazing, innovative, entrepreneurial individuals

Cons

-You will be overworked (ever hour you work overtime is an hour towards PTO so if you don't work overtime you don't get PTO) -It's impossible to move up unless you're hired in the entrepreneurial track AND are close to leadership (if you team is not close to leadership you will have trouble getting raises, promotions, or even hiring in your team) -You can innovate and make your own "team of teams" BUT unless it's an innovation that Bill and leadership loves, you will get not budgeting or fundraising help -1000000 meetings all the time -Compensation is laughable. Unless you are already wealthy, it will be hard to reach financial stability if you start from a junior position

Pros

Wonderful group of colleagues who deeply care about leaving the planet better than they found it. Freedom to innovate.

Cons

Ashoka internal jargon muddies our message and makes it difficult to clearly explain what Ashoka is and does to 'outsiders,' but there is a sense that you cannot criticize the language so the problem persists. Also, junior staff earn significantly less than upper management despite their equally valuable contributions; big hierarchy & salary gap between VPs and younger emerging leaders. No 403b match program.
