Management does not care about individual careers, but will always push HR to portray a good corporate / HR image to public. Once you reach a certain level, your promotion will depend on who are your backers in your company. Most planning is short-term, just to satisfy their boss or bottomline. New products are created to have the NPIs sometime to do, and easily discarded once they don't work within 6 months.
