The software engineering group has become top heavy, and there is not a lot of room for advancement. Can be here 15 years before getting promoted to next level. Also, management will not hesitate to hire from the outside right into higher level positions, when there are people internally who could fill the roles.

Very process heavy, bureaucratic. Very difficult to get things done. People in corporate HQ can ignore you if you need something from them but once they need something from you, it's always ASAP! They are trying to centralize a lot of functions so they answer directly to corporate. While it seems like they are trying to make corporate level positions open to other offices, most opportunities to move up are still in Franklin Lakes. They have acquired a lot of companies recently but tend to stifle their innovation with process. They are great at FDA approved medical devices but not at fast moving, research heavy products. Most of their recent innovation has been through acquisition, not internal. They are moving some manufacturing and even some software engineering jobs outside of the US so there may be a decline in lower end manufacturing and easily off-shored jobs.
