Appalling leadership

Pros

There used to be many positives about the organisation however only the products are worth talking about.

Cons

The Leadership, especially at the Executive level - CEO and CPO, are toxic leaders and rapidly ruining the business. Vince Forlenza was an exceptional leader and handed over to these clowns. How can a Chief People Officer allow such discriminatory behaviour to happen to women? Disgusting.

Pros

- It's no worse than most multi-national corporates - Almost all of the people I work with are really nice. - The breakfasts in the canteen are great (the lunches not so much)

Cons

Used to be great. I really liked the place for the first couple of years, but since the old site manager left (about two years ago), it's gone downhill. What used to be a serious medical equipment research site now feels more like a social media platform. These days, the people who rise through the ranks aren’t the most productive or effective—they're just the most visible. That means running hackathons, hosting Win-STEM events, or giving site tours to VIPs. In other words, the folks who have the time to get involved in non-essential activities while the ones buried in actual work are overlooked. If you're an “influencer” with a big social media following, you'll probably thrive here. If you're a workhorse? Good luck. On top of that, two major BD-RCI business units are currently being “divested” (sold off). I'd treat any job offer here with extreme caution—especially if you're being tempted away from a more stable position. The company’s share price has been flat for the last decade. Supposedly, the divestments are meant to “sharpen focus.” Personally, I think the real issue is a total lack of vision at the top, compounded by layers of bloated, ineffective middle management that are strangling the organisation. Frankly, I’m done. Too much work, too many deadlines, too much stress. Time to start looking elsewhere.

Pros

Pay is above market and the PTO is good.

Cons

The managers are highly unprofessional and disrespectful, and HR defends them to the end. HR also likes to gaslight you into thinking they do anything about the poor management situation, when in reality they are never going to help you. Management and the first Shift wave planner make sure to let you know every day how much you don't matter. You will always be blamed for the first shift wave planner's mistakes and they will take credit for all your hard work. If you are applying for the Indiana position I would suggest NEVER doing so. The first shift Waveplanner has been there for 25 years and makes working there one of the most unpleasant experiences you'll ever have in your career. BD also hands out time off requests based on tenure, so that leads to you never getting to use your PTO or ever having any time off because the first shift wave planner will always get it first. Management will promise you a backup so you can take time off but then deny any request for time off even with or without a backup because of the first shift wave planner being off on those same days. You will not be financially compensated for training your backup either. (My backup took over a month to train) BD will promise room for growth but then deny any application you apply for even if you are overqualified because they do not want to pay for another person to be trained and replace you. When applying for internal positions your manager has to approve the change, which they will never do. So even when you try leaving due to harassment HR will NOT help you apply or leave for a different position.
