Not a good culture

Pros

At best it is the variety of work, but most of which is unchallenging.

Cons

The biggest Con would be the office culture. Aside from the politics and back biting, feedback is nonexistent. Any areas of improvement will not be known to you until raises are disclosed(which are subpar compared to industry norms). If you are new to the industry expect minimal support from managers and seniors. If you flounder, which will most likely happen due to your lack of experience, you will be lambasted for not being a "quick learner". Partners and managers consistently lie in regards to your career goals to ensure you are there long enough to get their work done. Flexability is also nonexistent. Managers will squat at your desk to ensure your butt is in the chair at 8am regardless of how late you were in the office the day before. If there are instances where you must make special arrangements for child care you will most likely be met with resistance. For example, an individual, who is no longer with the firm, requested that he/she come late two days a week so that he/she could take his children to school. The partner agreed but quickly reneged due to manager complaints. The typical busy season requires longer hours than average due to poor project planning and management. Chargeable work is all most nonexistent seven months of the year yet you are still required to meet your charge hour goals, sans the chargeable work. You will experience weekly discussions about your charge hours even though no work is being pushed down. The weekly scheduling meetings consistent of managers complaining about staff and seniors. Trainings provided do not prepare you for the rigors of busy season and do not give you the technical background required to do basic tax work. This firm has a long way to go when it comes to their people.

Pros

- Good work/life balance - the fact that you have a life is honored - Open, warm, collaborative culture - I dealt with no unreasonable people - Grievances taken seriously

Cons

- Limited scope of "consulting" work - it's known for accounting for a reason - Actual client work is tedious - I did not have a lot of challenging projects - Obsessed with bill-ability, often at the expense of employee development
