Pros

Some of the people there are pretty solid, you can expect to learn all the industry standard stuff, oh, and making pretty powerpoint charts.

Cons

The company now has 10000 employees, but it still feels like an old boys' club; with the few founders sitting on the top. You are either 'in' their circle or 'out'.

Not a good place to work

Pros

The salary and benefits are competitive.

Cons

Senior management go on about work life balance but in reality when you put in 50+ hours per week it still isn't enough and they want a lot more. Never before have I worked somewhere when I've been made to feel guilty regularly for only staying an hour and a half late. Poorly managed. Their long term solution to a problem is to throw more hours at it rather than solve the issue or put a process in place to improve. Seems to be the standard across the company. Lots of legacy systems, no continuity or link between them making processes very fragmented. Promotions seem linked to quantity of hours worked rather than quality and volume of work contributed.

Pros

Depending on the dept, they give healthy bonus but the salary is not competitive and raises are minimal. Good, recognizable, reputable company to put on your resume. They do hire best of breed talent and you will work with smart people but do not expect a life outside of work. Their motto, "One BlackRock" is becoming like the big financial corporations out there with lots of red tape to get things done. They are loosing sight on how they started off.

Cons

There are are clicks and you need to be in the senior management click to get recognized and promoted. If you're a worker bee and quiet, you will be looked over and will be given work no one wants to do. They promote work/life balance but expect you to do the work of 3 people so I question the validity of that statement.
