It's a living...not a career

- Good Benefits (401K match, tuition remibursement, health club reimbursement, etc.) - Somewhat stable in the present economic environment - Good name on the resume

Cons

- Absolutely no career growth. Promotions are in name only. You can stay with the company for 5 years and basically do the exact same job. - In some departments there is a culture of "Just Get it Done" without thinking of the downstream effect. This will lead to many late/stressful nights cleaning up messes. - Incompetent middle manangement. Amateur HR department.

Larry Fink seems to know what he is doing. Great name recognition within the asset management industry,

Cons

New York clique. If you are in New York, you are in otherwise you are out. Too many VPs, Directors, and Managing Directors, and a lot of them have only 2 or 3 people reporting to them.

- great name on your resume (but that is about it) - you get a general knowledge about financial markets and product - depending on position, you can get access to portfolio managers

Cons

- very poor career development/ it is better to know the right person than be the right person - incredibly long hours - compensation significantly below rest of the street - incompetent middle-level management
