Pros

- top of business financial products - talented colleagues in several areas - multinational environment - competitive perks, especially for IT people

Cons

- SSC feeling with repetitive, over-advertised functions - terrible technological infrastructure, they don’t give you laptop and made it a horror to access the internal system from your own device - arrogant and not very helpful local HR (they promise everything and only care until you sign up) - lack of interest from management abroad, remote managers consider this place as a support office with no interest in your opinion

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. The experiences you have described do not reflect our values, especially our One BlackRock principle. We pride ourselves on being globally-minded and locally-focused in our 70 offices across 30 countries. Your comments are concerning to us as we provide our teams with the necessary tools and opportunities to succeed in their jobs and develop their careers. Our offices are all performing pivotal functions for the company’s overall performance and we work together to collectively reach key business objectives. The Budapest office is our largest office in continental Europe, hosting talent from all backgrounds, teams from all functions, all of whom are tackling innovative projects featuring cutting-edge technology. We are disappointed to hear you don’t feel the Budapest office is receiving the credit it deserves. We take this feedback very seriously.

Pros

-okay salary -volunteer days -flexible time off (depends on your role though) -some of the management are really smart and good with people -some good concepts in the new office -lots of ambitious people -useful trainings available (e.g. programming, Excel etc.)

Cons

Your experience is highly dependent on which business / team you are joining. Partly because of budget (how "important" your function is) and partly because of the people. My experience: -no team spirit whatsoever -okay starting salary but it gets higher veeery slowly... So maybe somewhere else you are offered less in the beginning but you get a raise more often. I accepted the offer mainly because of the salary but looking back, I could have probably negotiated the same at my previous company. -they like to brag about how great they are but really, it's just another multinational company -hr and payroll processes were a nightmare, I spent way too much time with making sure I get paid and we had to check our payslip and actual payments because mistakes are made regularly -the new office.. Yeah looks good , but not at all practical and facility management was slow to respond to problems or suggestions. I would give up a modern-looking working environment any day for an office where things actually function well. -the job was different from how it was presented at the interview... I did not like my job and I wish they had picked someone else who could have been a better fit. -some of the management was difficult to work with: little understanding of our job but oh so much to say -they are trying to differentiate themselves from SSCs but it is what it is...

Pros

Unlimited time off, okay benefits, nice people, decent name for your resume

Cons

Awful awful awful leadership in this place. The two MD’s overseeing the group are absolute nitwits who can’t plan or budget to save their lives. Didn’t even receive budget until after the year started, zero direction, yet zero autonomy and rampant micro management. Managers are new, unskilled and have no clue what it takes to manage people. Projects, plans and direction change at the drop of a hat meaning you are at the mercy of biting your tongue when they operate in a dysfunctional fashion. They’ll tell you this is an “inclusive eneviromwnt”. No it is not. You can’t dare speak up and share your opinion. They only people who get gears are friends of leadership. Everyone else gets treated like a second class citizen. They over-hire and over-fire. Spare yourself and go to an established company that operates like an established company. Also, the New York City headquarters looks like the 70s ...still. Wood paneling, dark floors, no space to have to have meetings, get work done quietly. You are at the mercy of a loud open floor plan where you can even hear on phone calls. Just please stay away. There are more modern and more well functioning companies out there that pay better.
