Pros

Flexible time off. I wish I had more pros to fill up the word count but I struggle to think of any other pros

Cons

Worst team I’ve ever worked for. No focus on development, management only care about what makes them look good. Will not hone your potential if you don’t fit their perfect extroverted model personality. Do not care about individuals mental health although claim to be advocates. Care more about perception rather than work quality. Would give less than one star if it were possible

Thanks for taking your time to share this feedback. It’s great to hear that our Flexible Time Off benefit contributed positively to your experience at BlackRock. We believe that employees should take as much time as they need to recharge and meet their commitments in order to bring their best selves to work. We’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your team and management. We seek to develop people managers at all levels of the firm. Additionally, we offer resources to employees that are designed to promote positive mental health (i.e. free, confidential counselling) as well as promote continual educational development (i.e. BlackRock Academies, a suite of online courses designed to advance skills on a variety of topics). We’ll take the points you’ve raised here into consideration as we continue to refine our processes and enhance our benefits offerings.

Pros

-Your peers are basically your lifeline at work and become your friends outside of work

Cons

-Terrible work life balance, you are working 12-16 hour days -The culture is all about face time so you "come into work unless you are dead", people have been really ill before and still came into work because of their manager -You are expected to say yes to everything that people on other teams ask you to do and saying no means you aren't a "yes person" or a "solutions oriented person" -Nepotism is rampant! Management plays favorites in terms of who gets promotions and bonuses, it's very obvious who rises fast and who does not -The moment you are questioning how things work on the team is when you are considered undesirable and you get staffed on crappy projects -There are some managers who belittle you in front of others and you are expected to just take it -Internal mobility is impossible because you have no transferable skills and your manager will actively work against you to prevent you from leaving -Work is actually project management of Aladdin, it has nothing to do with finance or technology -People are afraid to speak out while they are still on the team because of the bad culture on this team where people are favored over others, so the repercussions are demoralising

Thank you for sharing your feedback. What you’ve described is concerning to us and is not acceptable behavior for management. We pride ourselves on developing people managers at all levels of the organization and have an expectation that they provide a great experience for their direct reports.

Pros

A lot to be learned and a lot to do, if you are lucky to have a manager who enables you.

Cons

- The job description didn't reflect the actual job - the concept of the position given during the interview doesn't exist in reality, it's their idealized version of what the job is - No support, proper training from the local offices, mostly arrogant and condescending colleagues - Transition from the UK/US reflects the lack of processes -Not able to consider new ideas or input, "it's always been done this way" attitude - Old, slow and inadequate systems that do not, in any way, allow you to do your job properly - Management doesn't take in consideration your point of view, either positive or in the form of constructive criticism - Depending on the team, you will not be able to take advantage of the unlimited holidays - No flexibility, no work from home
