Used to be great

Pros

There are still some traces left of the old times when, the company used to care about its employees. This place was a melting pot of many different but equally sharp minds. You can still meet those who have not left yet.

Cons

Blackrock slowly turned to be the epitome of white male supremacy. Look at the management: all filthy rich, self-contended white males who cannot leave. The famous diversity and the later added mental health advocacy have only been a meritable plus till they paid off. These, amongst other key words, are still on the flag, waved by empty winds. Former big ideas turned into their own caricatures. Hypocrisy at its best.

Pros

Great culture full of good people. The firm is protective of the culture and hires people that make it a non-toxic place to work in finance. Heavy investment in team building and morale. Great work life balance and WFH flexibility, including summer work from anywhere weeks.

Cons

For a starting career in finance, you could be compensated higher on the sell side than starting out at BlackRock. But, what you lose in initial compensation is more than made up for by having the BlackRock name on your resume. After 2-3 years as an analyst, the world becomes your oyster.

Pros

Management responds to some of the complaints

Cons

Typical bait and switch. Descriptions for the roles much loftier than actual function. Job requires very low level tasks that are not building transferable skills
