Pros

Good salary and benefits. Working with talented and fun people on interesting projects. That's all I can come up with (20 word minimum requires I write this sentence).

Cons

The office atmosphere is dull and lifeless plus the location is in North Sydney. Dress code requires everyone to wear 'corporate attire' even when they are not client facing. Flexible work practices only apply to the 'special' few with no justifications given when requests are rejected. Internal systems are archaic and time consuming. Colin Holgate.

Pros

1. Co-workers and work environment are great. 2. Initial compensation is very competitive. 3. Depending on the project, the work can be very flexible for employees 4. Rewards self starters. You will do well in this company if you don't rely on the company to help you, but instead, help yourself.

Cons

1. No training - sink or swim. (which may lend to why the people are so great ... everyone is very quick and adaptable i.e. you are surrounded by swimmers) 2. Difficult to climb the corporate ladder ... as really, there is none that is well defined. On one project you may be a manager and on the next you may be a tech. 3. You are a contractor and your job security is always suspect 4. Salary increases are primarily inflation adjustments with excellent performance reviews and overall excellent company revenue performance ... without either of these, it will likely still be an inflation adjustment. You need to fight for raises, don't expect people to recognize and reward you accordingly. 5. The benefits are getting worse all of the time

Pros

If you read through these Glassdoor reviews, it seems like people are talking about two different companies. Some people love it. Others hate it. Both sides back up and their positions with facts. And guess what, both sides are true...If you come to CGI and get on a good contract that's growing and doing well, and you have a good manager, you'll love it. If you get on a failing contract -- and many are failing, particularly in Federal -- you'll hate it. Unfortunately, in my experience, the bad managers exceeded the good ones, and there's so little training, the bad ones can never be coached up to be good.

Cons

The cons are that the executives are horribly incompetent and many of them are all around just outright bad people -- self-obsessed, CYA, behind-kissing, obsequious know-nothings. Again, going back to my previous point...If you're on a good contract that's making money, you'll never have to deal with the idiots in the executive suites. CGI is cool like that...you've got little fiefdoms, and the ones that are chugging along operate in mini-silos, so you'll don't have to deal with incompetent, mean spirited executives.
