Good stepping stone to a career in IT - if you're willing to put up with a low salary and long hours
Pros
Good training opportunities and the chance to shape your career direction - the company will support you in transferring to a new role etc. Work/life balance is variable, can be very good in some teams and not in others. Opportunity to gain exposure to clients to build experience to take elsewhere
Cons
The offices in the Highlands are treated like offshore units, the salary (low) and expectations of work hours (high) reflect this. There is a lack of support from managers/teams to train you as they're overstretched - those who have developed skills tend to leave quickly. If you come in with your eyes open to this and are willing to independently drive your training for 12-24 months there's a good chance of getting a solid foundation in IT through hands-on experience and access to company training - though its unlikely that exams will be funded so you may need to cover the cost of gaining industry recognised qualifications.
