Pros

Quality of clients and good access to the consultant base, the large engagements in Detroit are isolated from the rest of the firm but if you work you can get access to the knowlege sharing databases etc. When working for Accenture I had far better access to talented people. In general the consulting staff was far more competent than the local yokals hired to staff at the client. Most were people from non consulting backgrounds or from industry. Their thought leadership was limited. However the consulting resources from the true consulting organization were highly skilled.

Cons

The downsides are if you are staffed long term with one of their large business process outsourcing groups you may not get senior leadership with the wide levels of experience and client backgrounds that you get in a true consulting org. If you are with consulting services the standard for an employee is higher and the quality of leadership is higher.

Pros

Good place to get experience in IT consulting.

Cons

Capgemini wins consulting work based on price, chiefly by leveraging the outsourcing model. Leadership has made it clear they want more consulting work to be done by Indian colleagues to achieve this goal. The CEO has made it clear, "this is an IT consulting firm, so this isn't the place for you if that's not the kind of work you want to do." There are not many opportunities outside of IT work here, even though there are many non-IT consultants hired.

Pros

Good starting place for junior people. the career advancement goes fast in the beginning. Compensation is fair. Manage your own destiny is not a empty oneliner, management is open for the input of all employees. Live/work is well balanced. a 40h week is mostly about right. (depending on the project of course)

Cons

most projects are in bodyshopping mode (incognito at client) no real brand recognition compared to competition internal structure (outsourcing/technology/consulting) is too fragmentated. In some cases the different units may bid against each other. there is a lack of communication from management to employees
