Pros

Good Pay Excellent Benefits Nice enough people Opportunities to build a network and connections externally Investment in Business Resource Groups If you are brought in through a rotation program your career trajectory here is good

Cons

Talent Management Gatekeeping for certain roles and job families Promotion is not always a clear path If you are at a certain level, you will be overlooked or calibrated with people that are only about a year or 2 out of college that are recruited through the company's rotation programs. These folks may only have a quarter of your experience and education but they will be promoted very quickly. Before you know it they are people leaders trying to advise people that are far more advanced in their experience. This creates a poor environment for morale. Sometimes expectations for the role and overarching goals are not made clear

A Backsliding Culture

Pros

Traditionally (though no longer the case), has promoted a culture of excellence and provided a multitude of ways to increase experience and grow one's career. Competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Cons

Capital One's culture has shifted radically over the last 5+ years with its push for diversity, which permeates virtually every aspect of work life now, making it very difficult for non-women/non-minority individuals to stay, and especially to get promoted. The latest Capital One (2023) ESG report shows that over the period 2020-2023, they increased minorities in management by 8 percentage points, while simultaneously DECREASING whites by the same margin.
