Pros

Great pay, benefits and investment in personal development and training. Some of the nicest, smartest people A regular promotion cycle means you could get promoted once a year if you’re in the right place at the right time with the right manager

Cons

The zero vision or direction, it’s led by a team of “mates” who make lots of money but make no real decisions. The CEO is a great public speaker but never commits to making any real changes to benefit customers or grow the business. Ties to the US means it will never live up to what they make you believe it will be. An unbelievable amount of red tape means it is almost impossible to get anything done. too many priorities, the priorities changing, the business having no vision and leadership being paralysed by risk, fear of failing mean it’s going no where fast. If you want to make lots of money, stay at middle management and launch zero products then it’s perfect. If you want a fast paced, innovative tech company (which this pretends to be) DON’T join this company.

Pros

Nope, not even the upfront PTO can count as a pro when this job stresses you out to the point that you're using it rapidly to give yourself a break from the nonsense you deal with on a daily basis.

Cons

The customer service department [or CX Voice as they used to call it] is an impossible department to work in . . . Useless 10 week training period and ridiculous metrics to maintain with no support made it impossible to enjoy working there. Never in my life have I been at a job where other newbies are sharing there own cheat sheets amongst the training class because leadership did not prepare us properly. I would know, I created around 15 pages worth of notes during those 10 weeks. Associates [aka acquirers] can only transfer calls to managers when requested by the customer . . . Meaning that if a customer is not understanding us despite various attempts, we must stay on the line with them regardless if the phone call goes over the time limit. Push back while transferring calls is the norm regardless if the call shouldn't have been routed to your queue. Risk "whatever the name of the department is" that monitors calls picks and chose who to ding for "unsatisfactory" calls . . . Good employees that actively try their best are often left to dry over things out of their control. This department is a literal free for all and I wouldn't recommend Capital One as an employer to anyone.

Pros

Great Benefits & Amenities. They try to encourage a great work-life balance

Cons

Racist management especially if you are black or latino. Lots of unnecessary meetings and they don’t want you to develop into a great professional but more so they try to kick you down by saying that you lack ownership and communication. Management often makes you feel like you are the worst associate in the world when they are the worst managers without any HR knowledge but more importantly managers will retaliate against you for receiving a low score in the ALL ASSOCIATE SURVEY.
