Pros

- job stability (80% confidence, entire departments were let go in 2022 without warning but significant severance packages were offered) - strong benefits (medical includes low cost of visits, telehealth visits are free and can provide scripts, tech education resources through LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, and other 3rd party affiliations are free, competitive 401k program) - aligned with tech industry opposed to banking industry - tech based solutions

Cons

- management. There are limited self-contributor positions so folks are generally promoted to management even though they may not be fit/competent for the responsibilities of mgmt roles. There is no way to give measurable feedback to your direct manager that will be reviewed, but you will receive feedback from them. It's not a 2-way street. - you're going to get a pizza party, not a raise - the bank is slowing growth which means the focus will be on recapturing capital from large investments. If not possible, read this as "CUTTING COSTS". Bonuses, raises, tools, and supplies are already being cut down. Your leverage is weak as an employee to get more money. - performance is evaluated on a bell curve scale. Senior leadership pushes for minimum % thresholds to be met in the low performance categories, as well as high performance categories yet they are not held to the same performance evaluation system.

Pros

No pros. Worst team and manager I’ve ever worked for.

Cons

They preach about having a great culture. It’s a total lie. They can provide all the free fun activities but if your team sucks all that doesn’t matter. I was hired as a contractor last year and my team sucked. I wasn’t trained properly. Whje I asked for help and questions took one of my team mates to reply back a week or two later. My suppose manager took forever to answer questions. I was let go while still in training, but training I was never really taught correctly.i never in my career been through what I’ve been through with this company. Left a sour taste in my mouth and I think a company so big they can’t see everything going on but honestly my team was awful and how I was let go was something I am still financially recovering from.

Pros

Job security and competitive pay

Cons

Detrimental to mental health Convoluted performance ratings that force associates to compete with each other, common practice to down-level someone's rating if they were recently promoted even when performance hasn't changed. Everything must be done the 'Capital One Way' even though absolutely no onboarding is provided to help train new associates how things operate. New employees are on their own. Poor leadership within Compensation team and poor communication. Made things more difficult for everyone else while they received all the benefits of the hard work.
