Pros

Freedom to do whatever you want, including simply coasting. There’s generally very little accountability in tech across the company. This is good if you’re a self taught learner and want room to grow on your own. Great place to give back to the community through outreach programs. You can retire here

Cons

Visuals and Politics dictate your career here. Many “engineers” plagiarize others’ work, but because the chain of command has no way to judge people or their accomplishments, these people are quickly promoted and then leave before they’re discovered. A lot of headlining projects are just a front used to grab promotions and leave. Due to this problem, many projects are believed to have failed from lack of maintenance, when in reality there was nothing there in the first place. A culture of “niceness” discourages honesty and leads to honest talented people being alienated. Many have recently left, yet HR and leadership are unaware of this brain drain because they use inflated internal evaluations to analyze retention. This culture and its intolerance to criticism also leads to simple projects taking 3 years to reach production rather than 2 months because people who actually know what they’re doing either don’t speak up or are simply ignored as just serial complainers.

Pros

Smart people. Good work life balance. Flexibility in terms of working

Cons

The company has the worst people managers. Progression purely based on analytical skills. Very Very Political, what differentiates performers from non performers is not performance ... but the ability to suck up... very unfair promotion / and hirring policies... Not open to feedback... feedback is looked down upon. The only skill the company has is analytical skills... no creativity... no innovation...

Pros

- Does operate more as a tech company than a financial services organization. - Interesting challenges to work on. - Enjoyed working with my peers.

Cons

Performance management system is toxic. They use a stack ranking system where the lowest ~10% every year get let go. It creates an environment where co-workers are forced into a "me versus my peer" mentality when they should be collaborative. Whether you survive the cut or not often depends more on your managers ability to protect you than your actual performance. And even if you appear to be safe, it is still stressful as the process can take place at both the mid- and end-year. If you end up below the cut line, there are little to no options for you as you are also blocked from looking for something else in the company that may be a better fit.
