Pros

Great employee benefits, flexible work schedules (depending on the position), bright open work environment and extensive development opportunities via Capital One's internal Capital One University.

Cons

Capital One is constantly changing the organizational structure which can leave many employees either moving around ALOT, or pushed out of a job. I was lucky during many of the changes because I was valuable to the business in my role, however the constant changes leave you looking over your shoulder. The environment is also very difficult to advance in. I chose to leave after applying for a role above my "title", got offered the position, however was advised by HR that due to company policy I would have to accept the new position laterally with no pay increase or title change. I had enough so I went somewhere else to get my promotion.

Pros

- Most teams take work-life balance seriously and working from home is a legitimate option - Good benefits like an at-work gym, decent cafeteria options, and good vacation allowance - A Diverse culture -- people from all walks of life

Cons

- Some teams/departments are competitive, judgmental, and catty but the company culture is one of acceptance, collaboration, and lifting each other up. I guess it's pretty normal workplace politics. - Large company means lots of red tape to get anything significant (or almost significant) accomplished. - Every few years they do a large round of layoffs. Some people on my team who were laid off had been there for more than 10 years.
