      A changing company but still a good place to work

      Pros

      - Overall compensation plan is excellent - You work with very smart and dedicated people - Overall morale is pretty good considering the current economic climate - Management competency varies from area to area but is generally pretty good - The company plans to keep growing as a bank so that means the IT environment will continue to change and be interesting

      Cons

      - It is a large corporation so you have the occasional slow movement on decision-making - As we become more of a pure bank the environment is not as stimulating as in years past

      Pros

      Great intelligent people- extremely smart and relaxed. Very good pay and benefits. Flexible work schedule. Capital One used to be truly a great place to work for- it was hard to complain and I think most of the collegues agree on that. Lately, the growth slowed impacting career progression. Plus Cap One is struggling to integrate traditional banks acquired. They do not fit in the legacy culture of Cap One.

      Cons

      Limited carreer growth opportunity. Risk of tough regulations. Profitability not certain which may impact bonus for 2010 and beyond. There is a heavy bonus component 40- 60% at Director level which may be at risk with declining profits in tough economic conditions.
