Chubb - the definition of mediocrity!

Pros

Stable company, good salaries, stable company, nice people, stable company, good career opportunities, etc.

Cons

This is the perfect company for people who want to stay at one company, not be overly challenged, stay there FORVEVER and retire. The average employee has been there 10-20 years. And it's not because Chubb is the best company in the world. It's because no one is overly challenged and employees are allowed to stay - whether they are significant contributors or not. Technology is from the 1970s. There are very few millennials. 50% of Chubb's workforce will be retiring in the next 5 years. If you aspire to Google, Yahoo, Amazon or Bloomberg, want to be innovative in a highly energetic environment, this is not your place. As an investor, I don't know how you would ever invest in a company this far behind the times.

Pros

Very high-quality IT department, but going downhill fast.

Cons

Poor jjob security, declining morale, no room for advancement, frequent layoffs, highly political, moving from a one-of-a-kind superior insurance company to generic property and casualty insurer. Though it's stock does okay, it is a company suffering from internal decline, poor morale and horrible upper management.

5 years wasted

Pros

Old fashioned pension with quick vest (3 years). Matching 401K. 3 weeks vacation to start.

Cons

Micromanagement, ridiculous work load. More narcissists and sociopaths than I've encountered anywhere. Dated technology and methodology. Little to no training. Promotions or even raises next to impossible. Intelligence, experience, expertise or dedication mean nothing, it's all about how long you've worked there. While the vacation is generous, just try using it! Don't waste your time working at this company, life is too short!
