Pros

9-5 job, Generous PTO time , Survived the financial metldown well. pension plan 401k 4%match by company. Decent benefits Flexable working hours...

Cons

Some middle managers are not suited for their jobs - poor people skills, lack of knowledge - but seem to hold managerial positions simply because they have been at the company for a long time. The overall salaries are low compared to other companies. The workload is crazy and one needs to be able to compartmentalize and leave some things undone in order to not be overworked. Management sets goals that are impossible to meet worklod assignments are not equally distributed. This puts some people in a position where they have to stay late or come in on weekends to try to keep up even though their salaries don't warrant this kind of dedication. Advancement is impossible and goes to least qualified.

Pros

In this economy Chubb is $$$ stable. Health care benefits are great

Cons

Micro management can be difficult when several managers feel they are more important than the next manager. Lack of communication / direction / accountiblity. People are wound too tight with stress and success or therefore lack of. Management / supervisors / work leaders need training on how to be leaders, how to manage and how to direct and how to be directed. This training should be monitored by performance. Management is all too quick to offer demeaning critizisms that erodes ones self esstem, and in the same breath commend their own efforts to run a tight ship. Management should change and/or rotate jobs/postions from time to time. Its always a good idea to work in all aspects of the business, from department to department, to unit to unit, to branch to branch.
