Pros

The benefits are great, but you don't take a job only for the benefits. They're good on work/life balance and medical insurance, OK on the rest.

Cons

Prior to 2002 there always was a Chubb family member involved in the company and employees were respected and supported. They brought in a finance guy to run the company and ever since it's been numbers, numbers, numbers. Keeping the stock price up is paramount and employees are treated as second-class. Chubb used to be different than all the other insurance companies (ask anyone who has been in the business more than ten years) but now they are like all the others;

Pros

Great learning experience, wonderful technical experience. good co-workers.

Cons

Long hours, little recognition, no room for advancement, middle management demonstrated that great programmers do not always make great managers. Managers need to be unbiased, and have excellent communication and people skills, CEO's mandate for a flat budget year to year kept salaries from increasing. Even though the company experienced record-setting profits several years in a row.

Pros

Good Cafeteria and Good gym. Most co workers are pleasant and helpful. Free Parking. Office supplies are readily available for use.

Cons

Over whelming micromanagement based on short sighted, "clueless to the actual job Best Practices" Supervisors are "robots" for managements unrealistic whims. Management/Supervisors will throw you under the bus in the blink of an eye. Work load is mind boggling- you would have to work 7 days a week 12-16 hours a day to keep up. When you can't keep up by putting in hours beyond a normal 8 hour day, you get hammered on your review and NO BONUS. VP of Simsbury, CT Specialty claims division is an ego driven, pathelogical liar. Morale is in the gutter. Atmosphere of strong mistrust of management. No management leadership and zero confidence in management from employees. Extraordinary amount of turn over and employee burn out. Highly charged political atmosphere.
