      800 pound gorilla stuck in the muck of bureaucracy

      Pros

      These days mostly just the ability to work from wherever I want to. In theory I like being able to lead the industry with good software and new ideas, but these days cisco doesn't lead much (unless you call acquisitions leading). I wonder: did we EVER lead?

      Cons

      Middle and upper management seems very oblivious. There's no risk-taking or anyone wanting to support good ideas (whether they pan out or not; that's part of the risk, guys!). As mentioned in other reviews, trying to get anything done from the bottom up is a fool's errand. Actually, I'm not sure there IS a way to get anything done, unless via spin-in or acquisition.

      Starting place for a solid long term career, but this should not be your final destination

      Pros

      technology, relevance to the industry. You can add cisco to your resume and become a hot commodity any where in the technology industry (assuming that you are good). I consider my time at cisco more as a career builder than as a job.

      Cons

      lot of waste of resources, ineffective senior management, peter principle's manifestation at its best. Your reviews are not very objective.. and then the mindset of entitlement from least productive dinosaurs!
