Pros

Good for anyone who lives networking, C, Java, and web applications. Pays well and benefits are ok. Work from home is especially good.

Cons

It is a software engineering job and can be very boring and tedious at times. Java is non-algorithmic coding and the only thing you learn is more Java. You don't really research any novel ideas and implement them, just maintain and update old products with new features. Features developed sometimes makes you think if anyone will use it, even internally. If you are not interested in software, this is not your heaven. Performance is based on how many customer found defects you resolve and quality of your code.

Pros

The perks are good but thats about it. There is a the all famed claim that "Cisco is a big company" but that is all that happens. From the day you join till end you hear the same dialogue again and again.Everything is an aquired project and no one has a clue about bringing it to ship shape quality. The cafeteria is even outsourced so to speak and it was the worst caterers ive ever seen in my life. The people raise complains all the time but its of no use. Occasionally theres a fire drill for which we need to run downstairs , thats one thing i learnt from there

Cons

sick management lack of vision no proper management or visionary views no guidance or mentoring in moulding new employees into anything

Pros

Stable, In the Bay Area, Lots of People to interact with. It's relatively easy going culture with many chill employees.

Cons

Large, Bureaucratic, lots of H1-B's. Just like any other huge large tech corporation, this is what you'll find at Cisco. These are not huge issues but something that gets to you over time. Not only that, the compensation, while not bad takes a much longer time to develop into something more substantial. But in this economy, the pay is still very good. Cisco tends to have alot of meetings every week, which also turns to be a nuisance, since you have meetings constantly in the morning so you stay late to do the actual work.
