Pros

good brand name can while away time doing nothing as lot of people do if inquisitive enough can learn a lot about markets, products , technical architecture in general

Cons

Too much politics. Appreciation by mouth isnt good enough and thats what you get from higher up . Need to play politics and keep whining or threatening about leaving, you might get something then. Being new to work full time didnt play my cards well and kept to myself. Lot of guys know nothing but talk and eventually they take the pie and you are left with crumbs. As a new hire fresh off the school and under choice it is fun. Fast forward a year, you see you havent done anything to be proud of. It strikes to you , you knew much more when you were in school than now. You were much more marketable before than now!! Advice: learn as much as you can , once you see its slowing down , get out before you become totally unemployable!!

Pros

Networking kingpin with great products, struggling to continue track record of fast-growth innovations Colleagues range from bright to brilliant Job can be routine moderate work load or all-consuming, often up to you Excellent benefits Great schedule flexibility

Cons

Cliquish managers and/or manipulative coworkers can distort job ratings Many groups just recycling familiar designs, work can be dull Difficult to move around between groups

Pros

The cisco choice program is an excellent programs which gives the new grads the option of choosing the group that they want to work for. Also, being a large company, there are hundreds of internal opportunities and hence you need not look for a new job outside the company very often :-).

Cons

Being a large company, things are slow and old fashioned for the Gen-Y. Cisco is a marketing/sales driven company rather than a engineering driven company which makes things a little slower from technology perspective. Promotions and professional growth is slower as most of the management is made of technical leads who do not know much about managing people.
