Pros

Innovative banking solutions. The last word in banking in terms of global reach, product suite, impact to customers, technology and problems to solve. Always rewards the people with go getter atttitude.

Cons

Politics and red tape that blunts the effectiveness of the good part of working in Citi. No Human resources development . Sometimes you could feel overwhelmed by the in sensitivity of the place.

Pros

You will be challenged and given opportunities to show your leadership. Professional advancement opportunities are available, but you have to seek them. If you're lucky enough to have a seasoned manager, he/she will show guide you through the Citigroup jungle, and help empower your career. Flexible work-life balance, if you schedule and communicate well with your management is possible.

Cons

Excessive regulatory and audit scrutiny drain resources from more productive projects. You have to take charge of your schedule early on, else you will be a blackberry (aka crackberry) slave. Some evidence of old school, micromanagers still exist, although senior management is working hard to change that culture.

Pros

One of the biggest and prestigious global firm. Great internal mobility (both global and countrywide) to advance your career and opportunity to try out different areas/groups without having to switch firms. Relatively a much better work life balance compared to other financial firms. Good people, encouragement to volunteer, diversity etc. Benefits especially healthcare may not be as good as the jersey pharma firms but they are comparable to financial firms in the NY metro area.

Cons

Due to the diversified portfolio of business you don't get the upside in a bull market as you would working for a pure IB. At the same time it is better to be diversified in the current environment.
