An Environment of Fear and Uncertainty

Pros

The people (except senior leadership from FP) are outstanding for the most part. The employees in India seem happy but not sure if that's real.

Cons

Francisco Partners (FP) -- the Private Equity firm that owns us. They are destroying what's left. Domain knowledge has been walking out the door either voluntarily or through layoff since they took over two year ago. The cloud product doesn't work -- and although Click wants to be SaaS/cloud company, they always fall back to on-premise, old products because it makes more money -- very short sighted considering the cloud is where the valuation of the company will come from. Sales is a disaster -- no knowledge about how to sell into enterprise accounts or grow the business; and they are now competing head to head with Salesforce.com and Oracle -- good luck with a product that hasn't been selling and can't be implemented with success; just ask the customers -- they are not happy. Also, no more lead generation -- marketing has been marginalized. Professional services has been decimated -- hardly anyone left to implement a solution that takes months to roll out. And PS was where all the product and domain knowledge existed. The UK office is a shell of what it was -- graveyard, really. In Israel, product management is highly inexperienced -- there is no real product vision -- they are stuck in the 1990s. R&D has strong leadership but it's been hell trying to move the development team to agile let alone have the cloud product up and running to meet SLAs. Very reluctant to change. And operations? The systems are so convoluted and process heavy it's amazing Click can even pay its bills or order pencils.

Great place to learn

Pros

- ClickSoftware offers the opportunity to work with a global team, and execute globally and locally. You will learn a lot in a very short period of time, so there is no time to get bored. - Great people in Australia. Talented, experienced and with a genuine desire to do good work. - Learning is encouraged - Opportunities for travel - Flexibility, work from home options

Cons

- Some big changes and layoffs created uncertainty within the organisation. Changes and their impact can sometimes be poorly communicated so people don't know what is happening. - Australia regularly works outside of business hours to accommodate other regions. - No 'people and culture' programs in Australia, compared to other regions.

Buyer Beware!

Pros

The people at Click are truly wonderful! Incredibly kind and smart and willing to get the job done no matter what. They also remodeled the office which looks very nice and is an upgrade to the 90's decor they had before, however, no amount of paint can cover up the mess that is actually occurring in this company. The 'pros' stop there.

Cons

Click has done two major layoffs within the last 6 months and it's HIGHLY troubling. The top executive positions in the company have been axed along with tons of Vp's and directors! All the top roles within the company so we can only guess that Francisco Partners is trying to sell even though they continuously claim they are not. Well they've lied multiple times before so who is to say they aren't lying now. The senior leadership that is left is just awful. No leadership skills whatsoever (unless you consider micromanagement a positive skill) and the second and third in command are following their lead which is creating a downward spiral of utter madness. Marketing (as well as other parts of the company) have been decimated and I'm not sure how they're expecting anything to get done with no staff and no support. I'm planning on jumping ship before I become a victim of their "reorganizations" and while I still have a chance to swim away from this Titanic.

It'll take your career to a new level

Pros

I've been at ClickSoftware for several years. I've seen the company go from a very family and Israeli culture to a very Americanized and cut throat private equity culture. I've been part of the product from its on-premise, zero cloud days to a completely revamped true SaaS solution. I've talked to customers who are very happy and some that are very upset. I've worked with some amazing people and not so amazing people. All in all, what I've learned at Click has taken my career to a new level. From a sales perspective, you learn from some of the best leaders on how to win by having a focused sales methodology, close plan, and win strategy. From a technical perspective, you learn how cloud architecture, networks, security, and enterprise applications works. From a professional level, you get to experience working with some of the most complex and largest companies in the world, making an impact on a mission critical part of their organization. The work is fulfilling, that's for sure. The contributions you make are recognized and well awarded. An impact done in one part of the country is easily need and celebrated throughout other regions. The employees are incredibly smart and easy going. Some people in Israel are difficult to reach when you have a question, but it's a culture that requires you to pick up your phone and call rather than email and wait. The executive team is open to hearing your ideas, and will gladly make time for you if requested. You can be as successful as you want at Click. If you go out of your way and work on side projects that will improve the company, you are full autonomy to do so. To thrive, you have to be willing to see where there is a need and work on a solution. It's not a very regimented organization that isn't open to change, in fact the opposite is true. So make what you will of other reviews that are positive or negative, but with the right expectation this is a great company.

Cons

Being owned by a private equity firm has it's pros and cons. The cons is that the leadership keeps changing when they're not meeting the numbers. I've seen 5 CEOs in the last 3 years, each one comes with a series of changes, restructuring, and layoffs. It is not always managed well and it certainly feels like the people are just numbers to the owners, not just people. The sense of the company feeling more of a family is totally gone now. While everyone gets along fine, no one is really very friendly or tries to take the time to get to know you. This was the case when the founder was around. The product is good, and robust, but it does not live up to the hype of the marketing material. CSAT scores are very low, partly because the solution has to be very complex and the problem is difficult to solve for, but also because the product doesn't do basic things as well as it should. Also, customers have been neglected for a long time, specially smaller ones. Only those with a lot of money to burn are given the attention they deserve. A lot of people who have been with the company for 10+ years and know the product inside and out have been laid off or quit. This includes people from R&D, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Professional Services. This causes a strain in the entire organization when such critical knowledge disappears.

What a joke!

Pros

free parking, free tea and coffee

Cons

A layoff every 3-4 months! No one feels secure. What was once a proud product is now complete rubbish – blame goes to PM. We should stop selling to enterprise, only scales to SMB. It’s a joke and a real shame. Unhappy customers. QA done by customers. Disgraceful documentation. Support. Local management new and clueless on product and industry. Beware to anyone looking to join the sinking ship, most of us are on our way out.

An inconvenient truth

Pros

Well, as of this day, nothing. If I try, maybe working at home is allowed?

Cons

Since Francisco Partner acquired Click 2-3 years ago, there have been 3 huge waves of layoffs. Many good people left and/or were kicked. The new hires don't have any idea of the business. This is why the management was kicked (SEO, SVP sales and others). The product is not good enough to compete in today market, especially when Click partnered with Salesforce and SAP so sales guys are not allowed to compete in these opportunities. These why so many people at sales were kicked or left, it's impossible to reach the goals! The product itself, not long time ago it became a cloud product. It's still not on the level you would expect from a true cloud company. Meanwhile, competition from Oracle is getting tougher as their product actually make the steps to advance. And WTF are those reviews from the India office?? I'm sure they are getting paid for these! Nobody in Click is happy in the USA, Israel and what remained of the UK offices. Think twice before going to work here or do any business with this company. It's going downhill. And FAST.
