Pros

Easy to take shelter at this company if you take little pride in your work, have excellent brown-nosing skills, or have a golden parachute prepared.

Cons

Considering its aggressive policies requiring consulting professionals to relocate to client locations for projects regardless of duration (the alternative is to get fired after a mere 4 weeks of bench time or pay for your own business travel), CTS cannot expect to ever compete with the likes of "normal" consulting companies. Couple this with a host of shortsighted HR policies, unprofessional (and dishonest) vertical account management teams, and a culture of hiring figurehead executives who turn a blind eye to the company's obvious problems ... Cognizant will continue losing its best and brightest, leaving behind brown-nosers and brown-nosees.

Pros

If abuse is your kink, you might like it here.

Cons

No respect for employee contributions, abysmal salary increases (Cognizant generated billions in revenue, but it wasnt as many billions as they should have, so company wide salary increases were 1% for 2024. Constant threat of layoffs, and secrecy regarding these. They do not want to risk losing worker enthusiasm before they have extracted every drop of productivity from you. You are just a number, and the rules do not apply to everyone across the company. What is appropriate/expected for one project is opposite what is appropriate/expected in another. Moving projects is also a political game. If you don't know the right people, do not expect to be reassigned from the bench. More likely, you will be retained there for 5 weeks with little to no project interviews, then laid off for failure to contribute to any project.

Pros

There are some good people to battle in the trenches with on a daily basis.

Cons

Management team is completely disconnected and does not seem to plan at all. No comp plan, quotas/targets, or guidance given to sales teams within the first half of the year. It’s been communicated that a good chunk of the comp plan is based on company performance, personal performance (which there are no goals defined), and the percentage of college graduates placed in projects you sell, which sales people have no control over. Because there are no sales plans provided and it has been communicated that there are a lot of variables outside of your control, there is no way to calculate your overall compensation and you just have to trust that Cognizant will treat you fairly, which they’ve shown they are not real keen to do. There are no real opportunities to sell services directly into accounts. Rather, you are pulled into RFP after RFP with very little support or chance of winning. There are no boundaries set within the company and you are contacted 24X7 with the expectation that you’ll be accessible.
