I applied for a job as "tech support" and found out during orientation that it was actually support for a tax software. I mentioned, more than once, that I had applied for tech support and was told "We don't have any tech support positions open, but this is the same thing". It's not. They tell you that you won't need to know how to do taxes, then spend 2 months teaching you how to do taxes through training with the client you're working with. I have nothing but good things to say about the client's trainers, they are doing the best they can. But, it's just not the job they posted. All throughout the training the management team at Connexus was constantly micromanaging the entire training class. They would send you constant messages about every little thing under the sun. Get back from break 30 seconds too late, you have 5 people messaging you asking why you didn't come back on time. Not notice your camera lagged out, 5 people messaging you veiled threats of termination if you don't turn it back on. And, heaven forbid you reach out with a question in the wrong channel. They will only remind you that it's the wrong channel and that's that. My training class had a person who was harassing and bullying other people in the class. This person was reported to Connexus multiple times, and they did nothing about it for weeks until this person had harassed several people into quitting, then they finally fired the bully after finding out the person had a tax business and it was a conflict of interest. Otherwise, they were just fine with a toxic work environment. This is not the place to be. Management only cares about the metrics. They don't care about the employees, all you are to them is a warm body generating money taking calls for their clients. An underpaid warm body, at that. In their offer letter they promised one pay rate and when you actually start the job you find out the actual pay rate is $3 per hour less. Unless you just have no other options, do not work for this company.
