Pros

A slew of positives - Top tier work life balance for the sector - Very stable job security - Exceptional and valuable levels of high exposure to interesting cases, countries and clients - Much more limited political infighting, culture of backstabbing, or stepping over one another’s backs, when compared to the typical firms in the sector - Impressive level of overall diversity in the employee pool

Cons

All the positives come with some drawbacks - Culture of punching the clock and just checking boxes to meet minimum quality and client demands - Pervasive lack of top level accountability and ownership with regards to performance and quality, as long as there is a fit with the company culture. Upper management class are often shuffled around the organisation with no regard as to geographical or practice area expertise, overly heavy focus ensuring “safe pairs of hands” remain in charge, at the expense of change and innovation - Career development and potential based too heavily on tenure length (although those who are British still retain the greatest advantage). Ossified hierarchies, lack of embrace of new technology, new ideas and modern processes. - The impressive diversity is unfortunately limited to lower levels of the organization. A quasi-colonial mindset by management continues to pervade, despite cosmetic efforts

Pros

With very bright colleagues, this is overall a fun and interesting place to work. The work is intellectually challenging and varied, and there are good opportunities to specialise.

Cons

There is still too much deadwood, which creates immense pressure on diligent employees to pick up the slack, with little to no work/life balance at times. High performers tend to leave after a few years for greener pastures, while people with questionable work ethics stick around. Remuneration is poor for the industry, and there are close to no benefits / bonuses are not in line with performance.
