Pros

Build you up in the interview Build up the place as a place with opportunities

Cons

Director of Operation loves to curse out employees and berate employees in front of peers No respect from upper management Upper management would rather look at and nitpick the stuff that does not matter over the substance of the material Terrible mentors; when asking for program managers for help they will always con the person by saying yes meet with me at this time, but the time never comes. Claim to have an open door, but never give guidance Retaliation is accepted. Do not say anything negative about the Director when things are supposed to be confidential Ethics are terrible as one will be told a situation will not affect the employee, but about a week later a counseling will ensue for that exact same thing The place is too much about covering yourself than making a difference in the business. Do not try and give more as there will be haters at every corner to knock you down.

Pros

Pay is decent, you can learn a lot about the industry if you try, customers can be enjoyable to talk to if you are nice to them. Some people there are very knowledgeable and/or good to work with/for. Dish makes smart acquisitions like Sling and Blockbuster.

Cons

People are constantly, CONSTANTLY getting fired. The turnover rate in my job title is probably 90%. I've only lasted as long as I have through luck, hard work, and previous experience in the industry. They are FAR too willing to fire people. Do NOT count on being able to keep your job here. I've seen several managers, including a second level manager, as well as probably dozens of reps, fired for next to nothing. Dish has a TERRIBLE reputation for this in my town, Christiansburg, VA. What's the point of starting to work here if you're just going to get fired? It makes no sense. Why spend so much money training employees, only to fire them in a couple of months? It's ridiculous. Also, as is typical with the call center industry, lots of managers are uneducated and EXTREMEly unprofessional.

Pros

I know a lot about technology from this job. I met some good people. I did have 1 great supervisor, but I have been here over 5 years.

Cons

Dish likes to change rules and policies a lot without letting employees know, but still write us up, dock pay, even threaten termination if we didn't follow them. They also change the systems constantly and barely train us, leave out important tools without warning and if there are any errors it takes months to fix them. Supervisors send out threatening emails and will write up everyone on the team for instances from a few people. I feel like I am being baby sat by supervisors that know less about Dish Network system and product than I do. Management never knows the answers to questions I ask. Getting time off is near impossible no matter why it is needed. It also has a high school feel between employees. The building is freezing, sometimes making it hard to type and employees are usually sick because of freezing temps combined with hand scans and shared desks that are not cleaned.
