The senior management team ruins what could be a great place to work.

Pros

Good overall work/life balance. Most of the line managers (through VP) are competent and good people to work for. Charlie Ergen rules the place with an iron fist and unfortunately nobody stands up to him, no matter what he wants. Not that I can blame them as it is clear he wants "yes men" rather than people who may challenge his thinking and will fire the latter.

Cons

Senior management sees all employees as commodities. It is a very inflexible place to work. Fingerprint readers that time your time in the office even for management positions. No flexibility as to when you arrive/leave. Benefits and PTO are terrible.

Pros

Techs are great. pay is OK as long as you can advance quickly. tools and equipment is the best in the business.

Cons

Work in all weather for as long as the boss wants to keep you out. 12 hours a day are average 14-16 are possible. A lot of driving or time in your van, you are paid for this time at your normal rate however time not working counts against your Points Per Hour that affects your bonus pay and promotion ability. it will be your fault if a customer calls in to dish within 12 days of your visit for a service call ( TC 12) REGARDLESS of the reason IE Dish equipment falls . This also will affect bonus and promotion. You truly have no control of you own destiny, it is based on luck not skill. if you complain another lifeless drone will be eager to take your place and your name will not be spoken again. I have seen many great Techs leave or be forced to leave over these issues. Why dish can not see the value of their employees is hard to understand. This is a great job if only management cared at ALL about the front line.

Some of the people I worked with were wonderful and carIng. Some people really looked out for each other. Job really presented many challenges and opportunity to take on huge tasks.

Cons

This company is documented as one of the worst corporate filters that exist at a Fortune rated company. The problem starts directly at the top with the owner of this company. He has been catagorized as a leader who cares nothing about his workers and it shows. A badge deleting system that clock you in and out. If you are late by one minute you will be written up. If tardiness is a consistent problem you may be fired and many employees have been. The 4 and 5 star reviews have to be HR ploys as the negatives defintly outweigh the positives by the majority of current and ex employees. Sad but true.
