Pros

Nothing because after I was hired, my job offer was rescinded before I ever started working for Dish.

Cons

The downsides of working for Dish... toxic culture/management, revolving door of temp/contract employees. After I was already hired, I was informed that I was not a good fit because I had to delay my start date by less than one week to accommodate my two-week notice with my current employer, which apparently was a big no-no for Dish even though the recruiter I worked with said it wouldn't be a problem and that he would take care of it. Supposedly that was asking for too much for Dish. The response I received was this: "Dish does not serve people, people serve Dish." Need I say more?

Pros

The team is nice, laid back environment, profit sharing (vested in 20 percent increments over 5 years) which is given out as Dish stock and placed in your retirement account, 401(k) match up to 3%, Paid time off in lieu of holidays, ESPP, HSA, Education Assistance Program, and extremely cheap Dish, Sling, and Boostmobile plans for personal use.

Cons

The insurance is the worst I've seen in all of my employment. Much like many other companies they have a High deductible plan, but their plan forces you to pay $5,000 out-of-pocket before they'll cover 30% of your costs. And their max out-of-pocket is $12,000. And United Healthcare will dispute just about every claim you submit. They don't even offer medical until you've been there for 3 months, leaving you and your family to just risk getting sick or injured. While the team level is good, the management is pretty bad. Annual raises are mostly non-existent, and when they do give raises they don't keep up with inflation. They have an education assistance program, but they don't cover fees or taxes so it doesn't actually cover as much as you'd hope. They're extremely cheap, and will be happy to budget their projects by subtracting from your pay and benefits.

Pros

Salaries can be competitive. A lot of technology to learn.

Cons

Dish (who own SlingTV) leadership team are led by a group of good-ol-boys who have yet to make it past their glory days of launching the satellite service. While pay can be competitive their benefits are horrible. They make sure to train all their leaders how to "Own the message" which is to say, explain away that they don't tolerate Work From Home, benefits are bad and if you have the misfortune of work in their Denver offices, they still manage people by reviewing badge reports to see you checked in and out and took appropriate time for your lunches - yes, even senior professional level employees. In-spite of all this some good people do stick around because they are passionate and see opportunity in the technology. After years of service these same good people get RIF'd with ZERO severance and ZERO help for job placement.
