Pros

They provide you free TV.

Cons

DISH's COVID-19 response has been very telling about who they are and what they value. The first week they were allowed to bring back employees, they pounced. They put in place certain guidelines, one of which is requiring employees to answer a set of questions about whether they are experiencing symptoms or not. If an employee answers truthfully and self-reports themselves as experiencing certain symptoms, they are told they are too sick to enter the building but because it hasn't been shown they contracted COVID, they must take a day of PTO. While most companies are concerned about their employees well-being, DISH is only concerned about your time they paid for. Even though they put in place arrows on the wall, automatic doors on the bathrooms and closed down every other desk, it’s all for not when you discourage your employees from self-reporting and encourage them to bring their virus to your front door!

Pros

One of the few pro's left about working at dish are the individual teams. Some great people who deserve better work at dish.

Cons

Dish enforced culture is not culture at all but instead an edict you have to recite with a smile on your face or risk a talk with HR. CPAW isn't a culture anyway and the real culture at dish is toxic and stifling. The overbearing surveillance of employees shows a lack of trust all around. Salaried employees can expect to have their productivity hours logged from their laptops. You can also expect to have your time in the office strictly logged based on badge in and out times. If you are salaried they don't care how much work you get done as long as you are in the office for at least 40hours each week. Ergen doesn't care about his employees and prefers to think of them as "children who need a curfew". Don't be naughty or daddy ergen will punish you!

Pros

I work with brilliant people Pay is competitive Occasional cookouts

Cons

The industry is in a nose dive, and everyone know is. DISH and Sling are bleeding subscribers (this is in the news), and even upper management admits (behind closed doors) that this trend isn't changing. The company is doing a hard pivot to be a cellular provider, which feels a bit frantic. A cyber attack earlier this year had a deep impact, and the effects are still being felt. Certain online systems still frequently glitch, but there's no effort to update this. A recent round of layoffs came out of nowhere, and the following company-wide reorganization has created chaos and uncertainty. I don't know a single person who isn't focusing on their LinkedIn profile, or actively job searching. Benefits are embarrassingly cheap. Zero severance for people laid off. On a comany wide webinar to discuss the layoffs and reorg, the founder publicly belittled his brand new CEO. In front of all of us. I was embarrassed for him, and disgusted with our "fearless leader". There is ZERO loyalty towards him, or the company among the employees. No matter what level you are, there is a badge in/out policy, and if you are late by a minute you get a reprimand. Be ready to come in at 2am when pushing out new products.
