Pros
The wide variety of projects and, with the right senior managers and partners above you, there is some chance at work/life balance--if you don't include the travel. The network and availability of knowledge within the firm is extraordinary. There are offices everywhere, and of course, as consultants, you do not always have to be anywhere.
Cons
Sycophants beat out competence every time, and those who can do more than project manage seem to be systematically cast aside. If you can check the boxes and follow the rules then you are golden. If you do things a little bit differently and strive to truly meet client needs, then you will have problems.
