Pros

Good benefits. Nice coworkers. Great place to list on your resume.

Cons

It only takes one bad leader to destroy a group. People sit around and are afraid to leave at night because the group leader is a workaholic. No respect for work life balance. People are rewarded only for long hours and not for results. Those that don't adopt this way of working are labled poor performers.

Pros

Some good people and smaller teams greater exposure on jobs. Work life balance is quite good and overall work environment is relaxed and friendly. Great for CV and strong starting point for careers.

Cons

Senior leadership generally incompetent. Overall direction of practice is going downhill - with the loss of the Anderson partners to PWC as well as ongoing significant clients being lost due to poor relations with senior people. Promotions, major decisions etc are continually shocking and a major complaint of most employees

Pros

The realty is Ernst and Young is really an investment in your future potenital. Initial pay is low compared to others in the field, but the potential to move up after years of service is high. Essentially you must weigh the cost-benefit of working for the company, low present salary vs potential high salary in future, to determine whether to take up employment. The reputation of the company is also an intangible benefit to your employment. Others in the field and indeed finance sector view experience with EY with high regard.

Cons

As already mentioned, long hours, low salary, at the begining of your career. Also inital projects tend to be tedious.
