Pros
1) Compensation is fair for Big 4 2) Diversity, Workplace is great for females 3) In-House training is great for those that are maintaining CPE credits for licenses and certifications 4) Travel reimbursements are fairly generous 5) The EY Global name is great to have on your resume 6) There are numerous resources to research accounting & audit related issues, government regulations, different business frameworks 7) You get to work for some of the largest clients in the US & International and depending on how you manage your contacts... can be potentially a very useful way to find a great career in Corporate America
Cons
1) Firm & Partners are fairly fake ... they "pretend" to be nice 2) The Public Accounting life is MANY MANY HOURS OF WORK & TRAVEL 3) Work Life balance is preached but not practiced 4) Unreal focus on Utilization (chargeable Client hours & the whole Busy season concept is passe) 5) As one puts it.... if you work for E&Y then you are a modern day indentured servant 6) No firm loyalty to its employees: firm layoffs don't make sense as there is plenty of client chargeable work to be performed and not enough people to fulfill the hours
