Pros

Name recognition. Upward opportunity if you stick around to become partner.

Cons

High time commitments. The work life balance is weighted very strongly toward work. However to be fair if you communicate personal needs managers will do their best to accommodate. The performance reviews are a forced curve so some great performers are reviewed as underperforming. Lack of transparency in the bonus system.

Pros

Big name, you will gain credibilty in the market having worked for any big-4, including E&Y. Expect to move on to bigger and better things, given 3-4 years of solid experience at this firm. But you have to move, internally only a few opportunities are there for people who strave to be partner. For that you have to be good at selling.

Cons

Limited opportunites in the firm, you must be sales oriented to survive long enough to make it to partner and make the big bucks, otherwise you will be under-compensated big time.
