Pros

Outside of busy season, E&Y offers great flexability. The firm is dedicated to ensuring you succeed both professonally and personally. One of the many ways E&Y helps advance your career is by offering great training opportunities. You have the opportunity to take to enroll in classes where you can learn about investment products, accounting topics, team management strategies, and many more. Not only will the knowledge help you within the firm but also for careers outside the firm if you so happen to leave. In addition to the great learning opportunities, E&Y has developed a great mentoring program. The mentoring program pairs more seasoned employees with new hires. This helps new hires get adjusting to the culture at E&Y.

Cons

The increases in pay are moderate.

Pros

The people are great and the work is highly technical and interesting. We look for people that we like to work with. Our culture is second to none in the Big 4 - we actually like working with one another. We work for and with some of the world's best clients on the most sophisticated transactions. We try and really grow our people by putting them is situations that allows them to stretch to meet the demands of client service. Further we are an entreprenurial firm - we reward results and are not tied up on people's levels or titles - we like ability.

Cons

Long hours, but proper client service requires long hours. That is it. We work hard for our clients. For me doing international work it means my hours are long, but the firm provides me the flexibility to get my work done and spend time with my family.

Pros

A strong sense of balancing work and life activities, the firm tries to make the work place enjoyable with occasional parties and activities to releave stress.

Cons

The demands are high and there are a lof of burnouts within the first 2-3 years at the firm. This is likely true though at all major accounting firms, so should not be seen as unique to Ernst and Young LLP.
