      Great Reputation, No Life.

      Pros

      Great reputation. Big learning curve at the beginning. Most of the groups contain many smart individuals that will definitely take the time to help you out if you're stuck.

      Cons

      Although the firm imposes the "people first" aspect of the business, don't be fooled. Say good bye to your family and friends during the winter months. The review process is way too political. It is made into a court case of why you are doing a good job in the firm. You are not even able to represent yourselves at this meeting and if you get stuck with an incompetent counselor representing you, g-d help you.

      Good Career Opportunities, Great if you want your CPA, Compensation is mediocre

      Pros

      There are a lot of good career opportunities at Ernst & Young. This is a great place to work if you need to get your audit hours for your CPA and are not sure if you want to stay in Public Accounting forever. You can rotate into the assurance group while still getting experience as either a consultant or by doing advisory work.

      Cons

      The compensation is not that great. The 401k benefits are only 50% up to 6% of your salary. The bonuses are almost nonexistant. Also, you may get rotated around different groups so you never get any real stability.
