Pros

- You are thrown in front of a client and tasked as an expert from day 1 and you are forced to do the seniors job within your first 6 months of grad. This in itself is a pro and con - but the steep learning curve and opportunities of growth that come along with it is truly something. - It sucks when you're in the storm but once you're out of it - you're only better for it. - You will come across amazingly talented and smart people - learn and absorb like a sponge from them. - You will find a work bestie(s) who become your friends for life.

Cons

- The career hurdles faced due to under resourcing & management politics can be very apparent in small teams and as you rise up in ranks. - Under resourcing is the norm, and it will be inherent in any professional services firm. - Old school management who are resistant to change and unwilling to take risks of giving someone a new experience vs convinience (ie- someone who has done the type of job before)

Pros

Opportunities to work with large clients and varied industries. Humongous amount of IP and talented people. Very interesting minds especially the lateral hire ones. A place to learn and training ground for a high pressure environment. Could open huge career opportunities. Very attractive vision of "creating a better working world".

Cons

Work-life balance, homegrown management are prone to being risk-averse and not open to testing new ideas, unnaturally high emphasis on ageing forms and templates, variability in terms of level of staff engagement across service lines/competency, very time-poor projects and personnel, high staff turnover on some teams, horizontally overstretched management team but ironically have multiple layers of bureaucracy.
