The higher education market is dependable. No matter what the economy is doing people are always going to college.

Cons

The recent merger of SGHE and Datatel has resulted in many negative outcomes.. Recent changes to the benefits packages have essentially given everyone a pay cut. Instead of Ellucian striving to be a leader they are looking at other companies and trying to be average. Ellucian will never be seen on a list of "best companies to work for" with this mindset.

It was a wonderful company until Datatel took over SGHE and ruined the company

Very few good reasons left

Cons

Management, particularly at the HR and CFO levels are a major downgrade from the old SGHE leadership. Ron Lang had his flaws, but he shines in comparison to John Speer. Decisions about staff and staffing levels are made by Bain, rather than who is best qualified to occupy the position. Outdated products need updates.
