Pros

It was a paycheck, but in the end I found a better paying position with better work-life balance elsewhere.

Cons

So I don't really have bad things to say about any of my other past employers but my experience at Ellucian was exceptionally bad. By the end I couldn't wait to get out, and I am so glad I left. The culture at this corporation is especially poisonous and it really takes a toll over time. I worked with some good people in the past, but sadly the attrition among those folks was highest.

better than sleeping on a heating grate in the winter.

Cons

No chance of promotion, as you'll watch clueless managers brought in from other fields with no knowledge of higher ed flounder while you pick up the pieces. No one has ever been promoted to a managerial title from within the company. Limited raises, as the company pays back the hedge fund owners. "maybe next year" is a constant refrain

Pros

The people, there are many very smart people working there. The pay is adequate.

Cons

Upper Management failures are pushed down to the employees and we are expected to work tons of extra hours to cover them and if we don't do it we are not being team players. Management and Upper Management get bonuses but normal employees have this weird points reward program that you can get stuff with (not money) and the rewards are just awful. Employees are not valued, there is a lot of discontent among the employees.
