Pros
Friendly people to work with.
Cons
An absolute focus by senior leadership over timesheets and utilisation creates a toxic work environment of high stress and low morale. Overtime is expected most weeks and on every project - it’s unpaid and exhausting. No training is provided at all to staff or managers and systems are so complicated with no obvious person to request help. Junior team members are scared to talk to each other unless it is billable and managers always start a conversation with, “I have 5 minutes” so provide meaningful support; their utilisation targets make very little allowance for people management. By the end of my first week, I felt a genuine sadness at what a terrible work/life balance everyone had that grew exponentially. Poor maternity benefits in comparison to other large consultancies & the benefit of home working feeds the machine of expected overtime. I felt burn out after 6 months and left. It was such a relief. I would not recommend AECOM to anyone.
