ASM is a great place to start a career or join at mid-career. The company strives to maintain a small company culture even though it has grown significantly over the years. A solid group of professional lead the company and work hard to provide long-term opportunities for employees.

The acquisition by AFS, in some ways, negatively impacted the culture of ASM. The challenge for rising mid-level leaders is there few senior level management opportunities because there is already a very good group of senior leaders.

While ASM Research offers great stability, the specialized nature of long-term government contracts can sometimes slow down the adoption of modern, open-source automation tools and frameworks. Navigating the rigid compliance and bureaucratic layers required for federal systems can occasionally extend project timelines and administrative overhead. Additionally, engineers looking for rapid exposure to fast-paced, commercial tech stacks may find the environment more focused on maintaining and optimizing legacy enterprise architectures.
The pay! $18.81/hr is not worth the amount of work you have to do. They told us in training that there would be a minimal of 3 inbound calls. That was a lie. I've had more than 4 calls come through within the first 2 weeks. The amount of outbound calls you have to make are insane. It's a waste of time. And don't do the evenings because you'll do double the work on outbound calls with no pay differential. Everything is on a spreadsheet and the system that you do use doesn't work.
