Pros
Salary is comparable to other business in the region. The policies that AT&T has instituted are above the federal and sztate requirements as relates to business conduct and respect of others. Benefits are good compared to similar companies. Communication from Senior leadership is given on at least a monthly basis. Many recognition programs to identify all employees from all levels of job titles. There are community efforst at the local levels to keep the company in the communities view. AT&T has reached out to communities to help local schools as a partnership for the students to identify the courses to take if wanting to work for a communications company or to seek a business degree.
Cons
AT&T has grown again to be one of the largest communication companies however the process for downsizing by using the 'shotgun method' rather than getting rid of Non-performers is a 'performance negative' for the employees that stay and are working hard. As even though you are working hard, getting good reviews and exceeding expectations, there is always the chance that you could be laid-ff. The cumbersome documentation for identifying the non-performance of an employee is a detriment to the person creating and keeping those documents and the follow through to work on developing the employee up into the orgainzation or out the door. These time management problems for the person responsible for the 'tracking and documenting' the non performance is primarrly due to the cutting of the adminstrative staff for the mangers that needed to capture and mange the intense paperowrk of a non-performer.
