Pros

AT&T would be a great place to work if it weren't for all of the cons (see that section). In general, the people below Director level are all really smart, incredibly helpful, and dedicated. Plus, AT&T has very generous pay and a really impressive employee development program, with a ton of free courses and tuition reimbursement for those pursuing advanced degrees in programming, data analytics, and other skills.

Cons

Oh, where to begin. First, AT&T is horribly mismanaged, and is the perfect example of the Peter Principle of promotion to inability. Their handling of both DIRECTV and HBO Max are prime examples of their incompetence. Since they took over DIRECTV has been destroyed by the cancerous Stankey, losing customers at a rate double that of other cable companies. while the HBO Max launch was such a dud it resulted in massive layoffs in the newly acquired Warner Media group. But the incompetence and mismanagement is nothing compared to the lies and greed of the top execs. And they do lie. Constantly. In every one of their pointless, stupid 'townhall' meetings top execs just lie. Some examples: After the 2017 corporate tax cut then CEO Stephenson said that AT&T would put the money toward employees and creating jobs -- only to have a round of massive layoffs a few months later. Then again a few months after that. And then again every quarter since, ultimately shedding nearly 50,000 jobs over three years. Execs promised to make DIRECTV their priority after the 2015 takeover (lie). Execs promised to expand low-cost internet service (lie). Execs promised to focus on promoting from within (lie). Etc etc etc. The biggest problem is that it's the rank-and-file employees who end up paying for all of the staggering incompetence, mismanagement, and lies by the top. Whenever there is any trouble there are layoffs at the 1st and 2nd levels, often affecting thousands or tens of thousands employees. But senior executives continue to rake in grotesque bonuses and double-digit annual raises, while those at the bottom get reamed. This place is toxic, and under the reign of that arrogant douchenozzle Stankey AT&T will only continue to fail and stumble and deteriorate.

Pros

1 of the best things about AT&T is the training you receive as a New Hire. The company sends you to a designated location for a month's worth of training. They teach you the basics of sales and how to maximize your customers in-store experiences. While at training if it is necessary, they will pay to put you in a hotel, give you an American Express card for daily meals and reimburse you for any travel expenses in a very timely manor. The training you receive is top of the line. Next, lets talk pay. At&t pays their employees extremely well. With a base salary with paid overtime and full benefits and a compensation program, you won't want to leave the company just for that reason. They take care of their employees for the time you spend with them. Room for advancement. At AT&T moving up is a breeze if your motivated and a hard working individual. My current assistant store manager has only been with the company 10 months and is already looking at becoming a small business rep.

Cons

The work and life balance. The hours are long and tiring to the point were when you get home all you want to do is sleep and on your days off as well. Customers you have to deal with and the ability for a sales rep to control the interaction . That is one of the biggest complaint I have about the company. A lot of times customers come into the store hot and as sales reps we don't have the discretion or ability to waive ridiculous fees or fix issues. Everything seems like it has to be refereed to customer care which makes for a bad customer experience in store.
