Pros

Brilliant CEO. The company's overall culture is great. People are mostly pleasant, and the work environment is invigorating, but this really largely depends on which organization you are in.

Cons

1. Career ascension, despite what the official statement says, is extremely difficult to obtain. The criteria for the corporate title exist, but the language is written in a way that conveys maximum ambiguity with no actual road map. 2. If you are a middle manager and in the US, especially, be prepared that your position will be made redundant in the annual purge. 3. My organization has gone through major re-org every year (occasionally twice/year) for the last 5 years. 4. Massive cultural shift over the last 2-3 years. Speaking from only my experience under my organization, we did away with the sensible approach and embraced a more hawkish rhetoric. We were denounced and criticized for being "too nice" in the past, openly, multiple times in the all-hands meetings. 5. My 1:1 meetings regularly start with my manager asking, "Tell me what you can do for ME?" and voicing your opinions/comments in the meeting is discouraged with the post-meeting reminder that they are "inappropriate for the context" or "timing is not right".

Pros

Plenty of opportunity to work on project teams. Lots of exposure to senior leaders in HR and the businesses. Great collaboration in the One BlackRock spirit. Benefits to support employees and their families are good.

Cons

Workload can be challenging at times. However, you are gaining a lot of new skills in a short prior of time and the ability to work with leaders is worth it.
