Pros

Great people, work/life balance is great, culture is nice with everyone having time for each other. Opportunity to move teams and get promoted but really you need to be in one of the main regions. Could be difficult to thrive outside of the NY office but some manage it.

Cons

Obsessed with diversity which is code for not hiring white men. Don't bother applying if you are white & male. Openly admit to this with comments from the top of the business stating 'lets just say we've raised the bar for white guys' and 'this quarter we hired a record number of non white males - well done to all'. Matter of time before they get sued for this. Pay is below average and they are aware but think people will take a pay cut to work for them "cause they are Blackrock" Pick your group well. Not all groups are treated equally. Top management have favorites. At the moment Technology doing well and firm always had a fixed income focus so. There is a saying in Blackrock that if you report into a founding member you are sorted, without getting on their radar you are a number.

Pros

Lots of client exposure Learning unique products Aladdin

Cons

Too much politics in the team. Nobody stays for more than 2 years. Also they like you as long as you do their job. The moment you ask for a raise or a change they immediately intentionally make your life difficult
